W4V Special Event Call on Lee-Jackson Day (1/13/2012)

The SVARC will operate the Special Event Callsign, W4V, from 1800Z Jan 12th to 0400Z Jan 14th, 2012 in recognition of the Commonwealth of Virginia's Lee-Jackson Day (1/13/2012).  Lee-Jackson Day is a commonwealth recognized holiday in recognition for the birthdays of two great American Civil War generals: Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson.  Operation will be from the the SVARC club station (W4RKC) as well as from any individual club members' station.

There are two caveats in the operation of a special event station:
  1. Operators must adhere to the operating privileges of their licence, and
  2. In accordance with current FCC regulations,[Part 97.119 (d)], please remember to identify your station (or stations) at least once per hour using the control operator's regular assigned call, with the special event call.
Members may operate on any band/mode that their class specifies.  Two stations can operate in the same band; however, good practice suggests that we should have only station on any one specific band/mode.  For example, WA4DJ can operate on 20M SSB while KB7ZZ is operating on 20M PSK31.  Logbooks (electronic or paper) are required whenever signing W4V.  K3VAT, Rich, will collect the logs and manage W4V's QSO database.  Currently, a color QSL card for W4V is being generated and will be available to all stations sending their own QSL via W4RKC.

Additional information and an Q&A will be held at the January 6, 2012 Club Meeting.
